Plasmex Racing - STEM Racing Competition
STEM Racing (WHAT?)
STEM Racing (formerly known as F1inSchools) is an international competition with hundreds of participants each year all around the world. Here, students aim to design, manufacture and race miniature F1. Not only does this competition build on technical and creative expertise, it also provides experiences that mimic the real world, fostering leadership, teamwork and innovation.
Brand Identity (WHO?)
Name: The name Plasmex is derived from an amalgamation of plasma and the suffix ‘ex’. Being the fourth state of matter, plasma is a highly energetic gas and therefore echoes our passion, spirit and vigour. Furthermore, it is often overlooked by the other three states of matter (solid, liquid and gas), illustrating our uniqueness. Finally, the suffix ‘ex’ connotes exploration and how our team will always push boundaries for constant improvement.
Values: Our values are represented by one concise antonym: One SPACE. This stands for - Unity, Strength, Passion, Aspiration, Courage, Excellence – respectively. This is the criteria for our team’s success.
Motto: Courage guides us - Unity holds us - Passion drives us
Colour Scheme: Pink and orange are the colours that represent our team. Pink associates with our positive moral and unity when facing challenges with orange echoing courage and energy.

Team Summary & History: Formerly known as Invictus, where we placed 4th Nationally in the UK in 2025, Plasmex Racing is a novel evolution from this team. Our team is made up of five hardworking and driven students from Harrow School UK in grade 10. Our team members and roles are as follows:
Kieran Leung: Team Manager (and Sponsorship + Finance)
Jerry Xie: Head of Design & Engineering
Daniel Lau: Manufacturing Manager
Ethan Francois: Design & Graphics Manager
Jesse Aidoo: Media & Marketing Manager
Aspiration: Our team aspiration is to promote STEM innovation at a GCSE and A-Level standard in the Harrow Community. Below is our vision and mission statement.
VISION: to encourage new talents in the field of STEM in our local community
MISSION: to advertise the exciting world of STEM through our sustainable and impactful actions in the competition.
Technical Development
Research: Perfecting a miniature F1 car requires precise and continuous research. Jerry, Ethan and Daniel have been optimising aerodynamics - including studies on adverse pressure gradients and the Magnus effect – reducing drag and enhancing stability.
CAD Modelling: Jerry and Ethan have undergone various processes to perfect the car through modelling on Onshape.

Manufacturing: This step is where we believe PCBWay can support us the most. Through the aid of rapid 3D prototyping and CNC milling, PCBWay’s support will be essential on this project and therefore, help Plasmex Racing fulfil both party’s aspirations: advertisement of STEM and innovative electronic technology.

Overall, Plasmex Racing believes as a community, both physical and online, we can inspire and train the next talented generation of STEM.
